About Us

At Raised in a Circus we believe in circular and sustainable fashion and homeware.

All our items are vintage pre-owned or deadstock (new but old stock) which have been carefully curated into a collection of unique gems for your home and wardrobe.

Beautiful, high-quality garments and stunning, rare items for your interiors collection can already have lived several lives before making their way into your own. We want to encourage people to select clothing and homewares that are individual and special one-off pieces.

We love our job – handpicking rare and beautiful items and selling to style conscious and environmentally-aware vintage lovers. By shopping at Raised in a Circus you are treating yourself to a unique style that you won’t find on any high street and at the same time choosing quality that’s been made to last.

Whilst we embrace our individuality and fill our homes and wardrobes with distinctive items that have their own interesting stories to tell, we can take a stand against fast fashion and mass-produced homeware and work together to reduce their negative effect on our environment. These industries are undeniably exciting and glamorous but sadly they are also the second largest polluter of our planet.

We are so proud to be a part of the growing pre-loved sector which is changing the way we shop and successfully breaking down the stigma of buying second-hand.

Thank you for supporting a small business and making a more a sustainable home and fashion choice.

My Personal Story

My childhood was spent ambling around auctions and fairs with my antique-collecting parents. I found it fascinating that the beautiful objects in our home had lived a long and interesting life for decades before moving in with us. The history they held was captivating to me – if only these things could talk and share their stories. When I was six I started getting pocket money at these fairs so that I could start a collection of little trinkets and treasures of my own. And so began a lifelong love of anything and anyone who has lived a long and interesting life.

I was in my late teens when my Grandmother died and I was allowed to clear out her bedroom and wardrobe, which sparked a new passion for vintage fashion. Her eclectic collection, gathered from a life living all around the world, was mind blowing. I still cherish some of her Pucci gowns and YSL jewellery, and although I was sad to see much of her collection go to auction, it makes me smile to think of people all across the globe treasuring her amazing pieces. A Chanel suit of hers found a home with its new owner in Tokyo and her Balenciaga cocktail dress is living it up in LA.

My passion expanded as I began sourcing items for friends (and then friends of friends) who didn’t know where to look for the unique items they were after: an oversized mid-century plant pot; a vintage toy chest for a baby’s nursery; 1960s bamboo furniture for a Tiki bar.

In 2018 I decided to leave my career in event management to focus on my love for all things vintage, home and fashion.

Giving things new life with new people gives me, my customers and our planet so much pleasure.
